Ron Melnyk is a founding member and Managing Partner of Six Pines Capital, an energy-focused mergers, strategy and technology advisory firm in The Woodlands, Texas. He has spent his career on the buy side of industrial technology — deciding which tools are worth owning, and then owning them.
In 2019 he co-founded Wellbore Integrity Solutions and served as its Chief Operating Officer. The company was built to take on three businesses Schlumberger was selling — DRILCO, Thomas Tools, and Fishing and Remedial — and stand them up as an independent Houston manufacturer. Before that he was Vice President of Corporate Development at Dover Energy from 2011 to 2015, where he led a team that deployed over $1.25 billion of capital through acquisitions and technology investments and quadrupled the business's revenue in four years. He went on to spend five years with Lifting Solutions, the Edmonton artificial-lift manufacturer, as a board member and then President of its US and international business, running its entry into Texas and North Dakota while also serving as chief executive of IronSight, its software subsidiary.
He began in the field, at Schlumberger, and then spent nearly a decade at Occidental Petroleum in production operations and engineering leadership, in the United States and abroad. Between the two he co-founded and ran operations at Consonus, a software services company in Portland, Oregon — an early sign of the pattern his career has followed since, which is putting software and hardware in the same room. He sits on the board of StrapTec Products, advises Tactical Oilfield Products on its executive and international relationships, and has judged the Texas A&M New Ventures Competition for Flathead Forge three years running.
